Our Healthcare team operates a full Medical Clinic providing safe, high quality health care services to the needs of marginalised individuals through the dedication of doctors, nurses, dentists, allied health professionals and case workers. The team work hard to ensure we deliver the very best healthcare to individuals and families who are the most needy and disadvantaged in our community.

CAN YOU HELP?

We currently have a need for a part time Community Registered Nurse with a focus on Mental Health and AOD to provide clinical support to our guests/patients from marginalised backgrounds. As a member of a multidisciplinary medical team, you will be located at our Ashfield Medical Clinic with the possibility of attending other locations in our Medical Van! The clinic operates from 8 am to 4 pm, offering some flexibility in your work hours.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Provide clinical nursing advice and physical and general psychological comfort and support to marginalised patients with empathy and a non-judgemental approach
  • Facilitate patient triage, administer vaccinations (adults & children), provide wound care, assist with minor procedures and perform phlebotomy
  • Assist in providing services such as nursing assessments, mental health assessments and chronic disease management
  • Managing recall and reminder system; clinical data management; accreditation compliance
  • Coordinate cold chain management
  • Coordinate infection control processes
  • Promote health and preventative care in the context of complex social circumstances
  • Conduct community outreach visits as part of the primary care team when required


YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Plenty of compassion and empathy and a desire to improve the health and services to available to individuals who are living on the fringes of society
  • Experience working with people with complex needs such as mental illness and/or drug and alcohol issues and homelessness
  • Ideally you will have some experience working with people from refugee and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and experience with using interpreters to facilitate communication
  • Minimum of at least 2 years post graduate RN experience (preferably community nursing)
  • Current registration as a RN (List A) with AHPRA
  • Current BLS certificate and Completed COVID-19 vaccine modules
  • Be up to date with CPD requirements
