The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation is one of Sydney's largest frontline charities and has been operating for almost 40 years.
Our mission is to provide assistance to address the cause and effect of homelessness and poverty, faced by marginalised individuals. We succeed in achieving this through a combination of caring services like food provision, social welfare and education support.
Our site in Ashfield houses the ‘Loaves and Fishes Restaurant’, which serves the disadvantaged with free meals, seven days each week. We have a small fleet of mobile food vans that serve meals at 16 locations across Sydney.
THE ROLE
As the needs of disadvantaged members in our community continue to grow, the demand for our Food Van services is increasing. To support our Food Services program, we are seeking a Casual driver for shifts averaging 6 hours, scheduled between 7 AM and 10 PM.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Reporting to the Food Van Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
- Driving the food van to assigned locations based on a rotating monthly roster.
- Setting up, serve, and plate meals while ensuring smooth food service operations.
- Managing inventory, track supplies and handle routine van maintenance, including cleaning and refuelling.
- Maintaining accurate records, oversee mileage and fuel usage.
- Providing guidance to volunteers on food runs.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOE:
- To be considered for this position, you will have:
- Valid Class C driver's license with a current driving history (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience driving Mercedes Sprinters or similar-sized vehicles.
- Basic Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain) with knowledge of food handling.
- Reliable, efficient, and strong time management skills.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
