The Australian Army will help deliver thousands of Christmas food hampers from a Sydney charity to families in need in the Central West of NSW.
The partnership between front-line charity The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation and the Australian Army will see approximately 3,000 Christmas food hampers distributed to Central West families impacted by the cost-of-living crisis.
Each Christmas hamper will include essentials like tinned ham, crackers, soup, long-life milk, tinned fruit and coffee. They will also be stuffed with Christmas treats like puddings and fruit cakes, not to mention custard, chocolates and bon bons.
“Families in the Central West of NSW have been especially hard hit by the cost-of-living crisis. I hope that our Christmas food hampers will ease their burden and make Christmas just a little bit brighter”, said Rev. Bill Crews, CEO and founder of The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation.
A team of volunteers at The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation have carefully prepared each Christmas hamper. On 20 November 2024 the Australian Army will begin transporting them from Sydney to the Central West. The Christmas hampers will be delivered to four different locations – Peak Hill, Bourke, Walgett and Broken Hill – in three separate convoys over two days commencing 21 November 2024.
The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation’s food hampers will provide immediate and tangible assistance to those hardest hit by cost-of-living pressures in the Central West this Christmas.
